Senior Spotlight-Owen Chapman

This spotlight is reserved for Lowell’s 2020 ASB President, Mr. Owen Chapman!  Owen has been in the school district for 13 years and in high school has participated in football, wrestling, track, basketball, Student Body Vice President and, this year, Student Body President.  He also participated in band and choir and even was given solos in choir.  One of his best memories at Lowell was winning the state band competition in his freshman and junior years.  One of Owen’s favorite teacher is Paul Burch because of his “endless support” and all of the long talks they had about sports!  Another favorite teacher is John Boyle for being himself and always “being such a stud”.  The people Owen will miss the most from high school is Mr. Burch and all of the boys in his senior class as well as the younger students.  Owen shared that one of the funniest things that happened to him (and likely one of the more painful things) was when he dislocated his knee at a homecoming dance because he was “dancing too hard”!  The sage advice that Owen gives to future Lowell students is to “work hard, and enjoy high school while it lasts.  Don’t take it for granted…you never know how it’s going to end”.  After graduation, Owen will attend Lane Community College and continue playing in the band there.  Then in two years, if he finds something he really wants to study, he will transfer to the University of Oregon and play in the U of O Marching Band.  Owen is still working out what he wants to do for his future career aspirations but whatever it turns out to be he hopes to “make a lot of money”!  Owen would like to give his Shout Outs to the whole LHS staff and thank them for helping and encouraging him throughout his 13 years at Lowell.  Mr. Chapman says he “…couldn’t imagine every going to a different school and not being able to develop close 1 on 1 relationships with the staff.”  Indeed Mr. Owen Chapman has left an indelible mark on LHS!  Congratulations Owen on your 2020 graduation!
