For the second time in three years, the Lowell High School Band has outperformed all others to claim the 2A/1A State Championship. After sailing through qualifiers, the Devils found some tough competition at State Finals, ultimately sealing their victory by dominating in the tricky “sight-reading” portion of the event. “I couldn’t be prouder of these kids,” says Music Director Paul Burch. “They fought back to overcome some mistakes and finish strong. That resolve, their belief in themselves, and their commitment to this program is truly inspiring.”
In addition, with claiming a record-breaking 2nd place finish in Choir during the previous week, Lowell Music has now achieved the highest dual finish for any 2A/1A public school in State history. Indeed, this rare “1-2” punch hasn’t been achieved by any other school (public or private) in the modern OSAA era. Truly rarified air for our young musicians!
