On Friday, April 29th SMART (Start Making a Reader Today) and the University of Oregon Athletic Program came to Lundy Elementary School to share the excitement and importance of reading with our students. The Duck acted out the book Giggle, Giggle, Quack written by Doreen Cronin. This fun event was part of a reading-themed assembly designed to encourage kids to embrace reading throughout the summer. The kids really enjoyed seeing the Duck and meeting the athletes that shared their autographs. In the fall Lundy Elementary and the Lowell community are excited to partner with SMART to bring the program to our school in an effort to create strong, confident and enthusiastic readers.
