Read Across America Day 2017 was a huge success at Lundy yesterday! The day started with parents and students enjoying a fabulous Dr. Seuss inspired breakfast prepared by our marvelous food service department, followed by two of our high school drama students acting out “The Cat in the Hat”. Later in the day everyone watched a short Dr. Seuss movie and participated in a coloring contest. Our prize winners pictured above with Mr. Matthews were: Angie (K), Ben (1), Georgia (2), Jade (2), Mya (3), Natalie (4), Layla (5), and Esperanza (6)–Congratulations! It was great seeing the kids and staff dressed as a favorite character from a book. We then attended a Sluggo, (mascot from the Ems), reading inspired assembly that will enable students to earn baseball tickets for completing reading bookmarks. We finished the big day with high school students that came over to be reading buddies with the kids. Wow, it was wonderfully exciting and we’re already looking forward to next year!
