Hello Lowell Families and Community~
We are off to a great start! Week two was uneventful and that is the way we like it. Items are already stacking up in the lost and found! Be sure to have your kiddos check for their items when they walk through the gym.
The district will be conducting a lockdown drill at 2:00pm on Monday, September 14. The drill will last roughly 5-10 minutes while administration checks classrooms to ensure staff and students understand the correct protocol. Please avoid coming to the schools during this time so that staff can focus on participating in the drill.
Lowell Jr/Sr High is excited to welcome Bruno, our foreign exchange student from Brazil to Lowell this year. We are glad to have him as part of the Red Devil family and look forward to sharing our school and community with him throughout the year.
Students have settled into their classes and schedules, and even the lockers are becoming part of the daily routine! It has been great to see everyone becoming more comfortable as we move into the regular rhythm of the school year.
Lowell Jr/Sr High math classrooms are continuing to incorporate more “vertical” group work this year. The math program began implementing these strategies last year, and the addition of more whiteboard space in our math classrooms has allowed us to expand the approach. Rather than spending all their time working individually at their desks, students are getting up, working collaboratively in small groups, discussing different approaches, and tackling more task-based problems. The goal is to have students actively thinking, communicating, and working through mathematics together.
Red Devil Football will be a home game against LaPine but will be held at Oakridge on Friday, September 11, at 7:00pm.
