Senior Spotlight-Melina Winters

Ms. Melina Winters has been a “force to be reckoned with” during her 12 years in the Lowell School District.  Besides taking super challenging classes and excelling in them at LHS, she has also been involved in numerous activities and leadership roles including GWA (wrestling), band, choir, Link Crew, ASB Activities Director, ASB Publicist (Lowell Board Student Liaison), volleyball, basketball, pep band, and softball.  Melina also served as a mentor to younger students and is a champion for equity and inclusion. Plus, she has a job and works several hours a week!  Melina’s best memories of Lowell was basically the feeling of “being a part of the LHS family as a whole, but especially the band and choir family” which she will miss dearly.  When asked who her favorite teacher was she responded that the choice was too hard to make because she loved them all!  Upon leaving Lowell, Melina will miss her classmates the most because they have all grown up together.  Her funniest memories at LHS are the football bus conversations she had with her good friend Mahayla!  Melina’s wise advice to future Lowell students is… “Don’t slack, do your work on time, go to class on time, and only skip once or twiceJ”.  In the fall, Melina will be studying at OIT (Oregon Institute of Technology) in Klamath Falls.  She plans to work towards a Bachelor’s of Science degree in the nursing field.  Her career aspirations are to become a pediatric registered nurse so that she can help people.  Ms. Winters gives a big “Shout Out” to her Mom, her Grandpa, and her teachers for always helping her and being there for her when she needed anything or anybody.   Indeed, Melina will be a hard act to follow at LHS!   Congratulations to Melina Winters!
