August 2025

Dear Lowell Families and Students,

I hope you have enjoyed a restful and recharging summer. As we gear up for the 2025–26 school year, I am excited to welcome everyone back and share some important updates.

We are pleased to welcome new staff members to our school community:

  • Karli Efseaff – Geometry, Algebra II, and College Prep Math

  • Stacey Day – Middle and High School English

  • Katie Buckley – Special Education

This year, we will be implementing a new Personal Electronic Device Policy, in alignment with Governor Kotek’s executive order, to help create a consistent and focused learning environment. From 8:00 AM to 3:13 PM, all personal electronic devices (such as cell phones, smartwatches, and earbuds) must be powered off and securely stored in lockers. Devices may not be accessed at any point during the school day, including breaks and passing periods. Devices may be used before and after school, on buses, and for high school students only, off campus during lunch. Full details will be reviewed with students on the first day of school and included in the Student Handbook.

We have also made some facility and program adjustments to better serve our students. Most middle school classes will now be located in the north wing to support collaboration and smoother transitions. We will also return to separate middle school and high school breakfasts to help keep the programs distinct.

Students will receive additional information about school policies and procedures through the Student/Parent Handbook. Staff will review the handbook with students on the first day of school, and families are encouraged to review it at home.

Key Dates:

  • Registration: August 18 (4–8 PM) and August 19 (8 AM–12 PM)

    • Registration Fee: $40 – covers student body card, which provides entrance to Lowell sporting events.

  • New Student Orientation (7th grade, 9th grade, and all new students): Thursday, August 29 – Times TBA

  • First Day of School: Tuesday, September 2

  • Picture Day: Wednesday, September 24

School Supplies:
Basic supplies such as pens, pencils, and notebook paper will be used by all students. Teachers will let students know during the first week if any specific supplies are required for their classes.

I’m honored to begin my first year as principal at Lowell Jr/Sr High School. My door is always open, and I encourage you to reach out with questions, concerns, or ideas. I look forward to working together to make 2025–26 a great year for all our students.

Warm regards,

Matt Winn

Principal
